No. 10657969) of Belmont, Belmont Road, Uxbridge, UB8 1HE, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA ID: 8010773). Ammal Solicitors is the data controller for personal information collected through www.ammalsolicitors.co.uk and in the course of providing our legal services. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Information we collect

We collect the personal data you give us when you contact us in person, by phone, email, post, our online forms or social media, or when you instruct us. This may include your name, address, date of birth, contact details, identity documents, immigration history and financial information. Where necessary for your matter, it may also include special category data such as racial or ethnic origin, religion, health information or details of criminal convictions.

We may also receive personal data from third parties you authorise, or in the course of acting for you — for example from the Home Office, courts, medical professionals, accountants or banks — and from public sources such as Companies House.

2. How we use your information

  • to verify your identity and source of funds, as required by the Money Laundering Regulations;
  • to respond to your enquiry and provide legal advice and representation;
  • to prepare applications and representations, liaise with third parties, attend hearings and conduct litigation on your behalf;
  • to instruct barristers, interpreters, experts and other professionals on your matter;
  • to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including those of the Solicitors Regulation Authority;
  • to send updates you have subscribed to (you can unsubscribe at any time).

3. Sharing your information

We keep client information strictly confidential. We only share it where necessary to act for you or where required by law — for example with the Home Office, courts and tribunals, counsel and experts instructed in your case, or our regulators. We never sell your personal data.

4. Security and retention

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction or damage. Only staff who need access to your data can view it, and all staff are trained on their data protection responsibilities. We keep client files for up to six years after a matter closes, as required by the SRA, after which they are securely destroyed.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. We will respond to requests without undue delay and within one month where possible. To exercise these rights, please email legal@ammalsolicitors.co.uk or call 020 3371 9066. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
